Walt Disney made his first cartoon, “Alice’s
Adventures in Wonderland” (also
called Alice Comedies) in Kansas City,
taking it in 1923 to California.
A distributor
from New York contracted Alice Comedies
on October 16, 1923, starting the company
originally known as Disney Brothers Cartoon
Studio. In 1927 Walt Disney created Oswald
the Lucky Rabbit, making 26 cartoons within
a year.
The company grew and in 1926 moved to
Hyperion Avenue in Hollywood. It was here
where he created Mickey Mouse and revolutionized
the movie industry by using fully synchronized
sound.
Later he created the Silly Symphonies
preparing the stuff for the advent of
animated feature films and in 1932, Flowers
and Trees, a Silly Symphony, the first
full-colored cartoon won Academy Award
for Best Cartoon. |
